What do I do? I get asked that a lot… I am a licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator for the state of Missouri located in Douglas County. I take in injured and orphaned wildlife and I get them healthy so I can return them back into the wild.
Every Baby holds its own adventure… They all have their own secrets to tell, their own sad stories of how they came to be in my care.
Is it easy? No, when you open yourself up like this, you put yourself in a position to see both the good and bad. The joy of a successful release is complete with tears; the sorrow of losing a baby after you have tried everything you can is overwhelming.
How on earth did I find myself doing this?
Well that’s an easy one to answer. My mom says it best: "When she was little she used to rescue grasshoppers and rehab them…” I have always been drawn to helping animals and my life wouldn’t feel complete if I wasn’t helping them. Rescuing animals is my life.
